Milford Sound

During my time in Queenstown, I spent the better part of a day taking a trip out to Milford Sound.  Milford Sound is a fjord about 180 miles from Queenstown.  I booked the trip via a company called the BBQ Bus!  I felt like I was in the Mystery Machine on an episode Scooby-Doo.

We made some stops along the way.  New Zealand continued be breathtaking as the scenery certainly did not disappoint!

We made a stop at the Mirror Lakes.  As you would expect, the lakes reflect or mirror what is behind them.  These Mirror Lakes I found even more striking than Lake Matheson back in Wanaka.

Another stop along the way:

Then we arrived at Milford Sound and hopped off the bus and onto a little boat to explore the sound.

There were plenty of waterfalls and one even produced a rainbow.

We also saw some animals on our cruise.  The first pic is of some seals and the second one is a lone penguin!

We really lucked out with the weather and a pretty sunny day as they say it rains over 200 days a year at the sound.  With that, it was back on the Mystery Machine to have some Scooby Snacks and head back into Queenstown.  It was a long day, but I'm glad I took the trip!
